Criteria for setting-up a blood drive

1. There must be a general interest of a minimum of 30 donors (we suggest a survey prior to setting a date).

2. Minimum amount of time for a blood drive is two hours. This is adequate time for 32 donors to be scheduled.

3. There are two available set-ups:

Bloodmobile: This is a 37' long bus, which is parked close to your facility. We use the bloodmobile to do the majority of the blood donation process. An area inside your facility is needed to register donors, record their vitals (blood pressure, temperature and pulse) and to have the donor complete information on their donor record form. Tables and chairs need to be provided. Electrical outlets are needed. The lighting and temperature in this area are also a factor.

Van: This is an inside set-up and may only be used in a room at least 30' x 40'. All the equipment (registration area, donor beds, screening area, and refreshments) are set-up inside so it is important that this room is as empty as possible. Tables and chairs need to be provided. Electrical outlets are needed. The lighting and temperature in this room is also a factor.

4. Blood drives should be scheduled at least two months prior to date. This gives you ample time to organize and recruit. There are exceptions to this rule and would be discussed if the need arises.

5. The Central PA Blood Bank supplies adequate amount of juice and crackers for the blood drive. The sponsor is more than welcome to add anything they choose.

6. Drives may be scheduled any day of the week and any time of day, as long as the above criteria are met.

We realize each organization and company is unique. We will work with you in every way to help you meet these criteria.
